Why Fence Line Surveys Matter

Before installing a fence, it’s essential to know exactly where your property begins and ends. A professional fence survey confirms your true boundary lines, identifies any existing property issues, and ensures your project won’t cross into neighboring land. By using precise equipment and proven field methods, our team provides clear results that help you avoid disputes and build with complete confidence.

Fence Line Survey FAQs

A fence survey is a boundary-focused land survey that identifies your exact property lines so you can place a fence accurately and legally. It provides measurements and markers that show where your fence can be installed without crossing into neighboring land.

Yes—especially if you’re unsure where your property line is or if you’re installing a fence near a boundary. Without a survey, you risk placing the fence incorrectly, which can lead to disputes, fines, or having to move the fence later.

A fence survey typically includes a field survey of your property lines and key corners. We can also mark the boundary line for simple fence post placement if you like!

Most residential fence surveys can be completed within a few days to two weeks, depending on property size, terrain, and how much research is required to verify the deed and surrounding boundaries.

Sure, we are happy to mark your entire property line if you prefer! This makes it very easy for you or your fencing contractor to know where you set the posts.

If you are having an existing boundary dispute with a neighbor we typically recommend getting a platted boundary survey. This will give you the documentation needed in case the dispute ends up in court.

Sometimes encroachments are discovered as part of the process, either your existing fence or a neighbor’s fences or structures. At that point we recommend consulting with your local planning department, HOA, or legal advisor if needed.

Every HOA has its own requirements. We are happy to talk with you about your particular needs and advise on the process!
